NYC Restaurant Week Must Try Places

With 5 days left in NYC Restaurant Week, there’s still plenty of time to try some of the best and deals the program has to offer.

For those of who haven’t heard of the program, NYC Restaurant Week is a month-long event where many restaurants in the city create special, price-fixe menus that show off their best items at an amazing price. There are both lunch and dinner options, with prices ranging from $30-$60 for 2 to 3 courses. While most restaurants offer their Restaurant Week special on Sunday’s, most don’t offer their Restaurant Week deal on Saturday’s.

Here are my top 5 must try places to check off the list this Restaurant Week!

1. Senya (East Village)

Senya is one of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan. While this restaurant is small in size, the flavors in the food its owners create is huge and incredibly complex. I was lucky to try Senya last year for Restaurant Week in 2021, and am glad it’s back again this year! Senya offers a $60 3-course price-fixe menu featuring an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert.  Senya is a modern Japanese restaurant featuring items such as bone marrow and foie gras on its menu. While the full Restaurant Week menu can be found here, my personal recommendations would be the miso infused foie gras and the snow crab mazemen. The miso infused foie gras has such a complex flavor that complements the richness of the foie gras, and the snow crab mazemen combines the different creaminesses bone marrow, cream sauce, and uni into one of the most interesting pasta dishes I’ve ever had.

2. Hortus (Nomad)

Hortus is a Korean Fusion restaurant located in Nomad. They have a 2 story indoor seating area as well as a covered outdoor seating area on the second floor (it has A/C so don’t worry about sitting “outside”!) Hortus features both lunch and dinner option, which are $45 and $60 respectively. Since it offers both lunch and dinner, this spot is great if you want to check off two restaurants in one day! I think Hortus’s Restaurant Week deal is one of the best ones because for both lunch and dinner they offer a small dish before the meal (for me it was a mini cone with tuna bits inside). Their portions are also HUGE considering it’s a 2 to 3 course meal. Think full on entree sized pasta portions that are part of the appetizer section kind of huge. My personal favorites from their menu are the King Crab Noodle and the Sea Urchin Truffle Donabe. Hortus’s full Restaurant Week menu can be found here.

3. NSA Noodle Bar (Williamsburg)

The “NSA” actually stands for No Strings Attached -while the name of this Brooklyn noodle bar is a bit strange, the food here speaks for itself. The food at NSA Noodle Bar combines Italian pasta with Asian fusion flavors, creating incredible combos. NSA Noodle Bar offers a $45 3-course price-fixe menu for both lunch and dinner. My recommendations for this restaurant would definitely be the miso arancini and the scallop parmesean fettuccine. Their full Restaurant Week menu can be found here.

4. Maison Pickle (Upper West Side)

Maison Pickle makes you feel right at home with friendly service and incredible American comfort food. This year for Restaurant Week, they’re offering a $30 lunch and a $45 dinner. While this is not included in the Restaurant Week special, I would definitely recommend their break bread. For items included in the deal, I really love their crab, artichoke, and spinach dip and their deluxe French dip! Their full Restaurant Week menu can be found on their Instagram page here. Be warned their portions are HUGE (as should be the case with comfort food), so I had enough food for lunch the next day after getting dinner here.

5. Alice (West Village)

Alice has some of the best service in Manhattan -from constant top-offs on the free bread to wiping your crumbs off after each course, I felt quite pampered during my dinner there. This year, Alice is offering a $45 3-course dinner menu. My favorites from dinner were the calamari and clam linguine. Their full Restaurant Week menu can be found here.
